Assessing the Condition
Before you decide to have your windows replacement and doors repair or replace, we advise that you assess the conditions first.
We have compiled a basic list of things you may do to properly assess your windows’ conditions.
Number of Window Panes
For windows that have only a single pane, it is recommended to have them replaced even if they have not yet incurred any damage.
Installing triple or double pane windows are more energy-efficient and cut heat loss by half.
So if you believe that your single-pane windows are showing their age, you may want to consider replacing them.
The Window Glass
If the window’s glass has incurred damage, loosened, or if moisture has seeped in between the panes, calling the original window manufacturer may be the first thing you want to do.
The manufacturer may have glass panes reserved as replacement parts.
The Material
Windows that are made of vinyl have an exceptional lifespan and do not require replacing as often.
Vinyl windows typically last at least twenty years.
Air Leakage
Examine if your windows have air leaks around them.
You can do this by lighting a candle, an incense stick, or a lighter and walking around the window frame.
If the windows do not have any leaks, then replacing them is not yet necessary.

What to Do with a Broken Window
In some cases, the window itself has shattered due to accidents or acts of nature.
When this happens, assessing the condition may not be necessary, but rather, investigating the cause and planning for its replacement should be your priority.
Identify the Cause of a Broken Window
If there are suspicions that the window has been intentionally broken as a result of an intruder, contact the police immediately and file a report.
Doing so will also help in your insurance claim as the cause of damage will be documented.
If the window was broken due to an accident or act of nature, you might also opt to file an insurance claim to cover the costs of replacement.
