    2. Make sure to get the right measurement of the glass. Measure the weight and height of the opening with tape. Provide a ¼ inch allowance for each measurement.
    3. Install the new glass by carefully placing it into the frame and caulking it into place.
    4. Replace the old frame trim with a new one, then secure it with thumbtacks.
    5. Clean the excess caulk and the glass.

    Fixing Broken Window

It’s crucial to fix your glass window once it breaks to secure the safety of your home.

Dealing with the damage on the window can either require a window repair or window replacement.

However, if your window only has visible cracks, but it’s not entirely damaged, you can glue up the inseparable glass shards with an epoxy.

Moreover, these are the steps to follow.

    1. Clean the glass with soap

Before fixing the broken window, clean the glass with a damp cloth soaked with dishwashing soap.

Remove dust, oil, fingerprints you see, and then wipe them with a clean towel to remove any soap residue.

Dry the glass entirely before proceeding to the next step.

    2. Create a two-part epoxy mixture

Prepare a two-part epoxy and place it on a piece of cardboard or a plate.

These adhesives are comprised of separate resin and hardener that need mixing when it’s time to use.

Follow the directions on the product.

Then, use a toothpick or a wooden stick to mix the epoxy for 20 seconds.

Make sure to mix it before it gets thick and hard.

In this way, you’ll have time to apply the epoxy effectively into the cracks.

    3. Apply the epoxy to the cracks by using a putty knife

Using a putty knife, press the epoxy over the crack.

Gently press the adhesive into the cracks, and work it back and forth.

Leave it for at least five minutes.

    4. Remove the excess epoxy with a razor blade

Using a razor blade, scrape the excess epoxy.

Then, wipe the glass with a clean towel mixed with acetone to remove the adhesive effectively.

Leave the glass cure for 24 hours.

    5. Polish the surface

Lastly, clean the surface using a clean towel mixed with glass cleaner.

However, if the glass window is broken into shards, it’s entirely impossible to repair it.

You need a window replacement for this issue.

Call a window repair expert to do the job for you.

    Fixing Damaged Screens

If you have a window screen, most likely, it has been detached or teared up.

When dealing with it, you only need to follow the steps below.

You need to purchase a screen patch with adhesive to cover the tear effectively for tearing window screens.

Cut the patch to size just enough to cover the tear.

Make sure to leave an allowance of ½ inch around the edge.

Then, place the patch and use a hairdryer to apply heat.

The heat from the hairdryer will activate the adhesive, which instantly glues to the screen.

However, if the window screen is severely damaged, you might need to call an expert for a window screen replacement.
